Midwest College Consulting® offers personalized college planning and admissions advising for high school students and their families. We guide students through every step of the process—from academic and extracurricular planning to building a balanced college list, completing applications, and making final decisions.
Our approach is collaborative and individualized, helping each student stay organized, present themselves authentically, and move forward with confidence. Ultimately, we aim to help students find colleges that are the right academic, personal, and financial fit.

Our Team
Dana Rolander
Dana Rolander, founder of Midwest College Consulting®, has over twelve years of experience guiding students nationwide through the college admissions process. She is a Certified Educational Planner and holds a degree from the University of Iowa, along with a Certificate in College Counseling with distinction from UCLA. Dana has a background in writing and marketing within the financial services and education industries and is an active member of leading professional organizations, continuing her professional development through conferences and regular college visits.
Founder and College Advisor
Kelley Ching is a college advisor and test prep specialist at MCC with over 25 years of experience supporting students. She works with students on ACT/SAT prep, essay writing, and the college application process. Kelley holds a degree from UC Berkeley and a master’s in education from Stanford, and has taught and held leadership roles in both public and private schools. She is an active member of professional admissions organizations and is based in Cincinnati with her family.

Jen Starr
Jen Starr is a college advisor at MCC known for her calm, thoughtful approach and strong attention to detail. She has extensive experience working with high school students on the college search, applications, and athletic recruiting. Jen holds a degree in Human Development and a master’s in education from the University of Cincinnati, along with a Certificate in College Counseling from UCLA. She is an active member of professional admissions organizations and lives in Wyoming, Ohio with her family.
College Advisor 
Andrew Borneman has 18 years teaching English and four years in college counseling, helping students preserve their voice and stand out in applications and essays. A Cincinnati native and third-generation Seven Hills School alumnus, he earned his B.A. from Grinnell College, an M.Ed. from Xavier University, and recently completed his M.F.A in fiction. A published writer with multiple awards, he is working on a novel and short stories. Andrew is a member of NACAC, PACAC, and ACCIS.

Caroline wagner
Caroline Wagner helps students and families navigate a successful college search, drawing on years of experience in admissions and student development. She spent six years at UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce, gaining insight into what helps students thrive on campus. Caroline encourages students to pursue meaningful academics and experiences that reflect curiosity and leadership. She holds a B.A. from Ohio State, an M.Ed. from William & Mary, and an Ed.D. from UVA, and lives in Cincinnati with her husband and two children.

Mary keeps MCC running smoothly as Client Services Manager, ensuring every family’s experience is organized and seamless. She oversees client onboarding, communication, reporting, and technology platforms, applying her operations experience and systems mindset to support MCC’s efficiency and growth. Mary holds a Communications degree from Hope College and lives in Chicago.
